All In

Are you ALL in?

This is a question I ask myself regularly. It started a few years ago, when I was spread pretty thin with family, farm, business, professional and community responsibilities. I was feeling despairing when some support I thought I had fell through and I was back to square one. I was questioning why it was so hard to find support that was reliable

and why people can't commit. My friend and fellow coach asked me:

"Are YOU all in? Are you giving yourself the support you are requesting of others?"

Damn. That stung at first and I felt armed with defensive thoughts: However, for months that statement stuck with me. I realized that I hadn't been all in on my business. That I wasn't giving myself permission to dive full focus in, to believe in myself, and to commit to my vision. When I looked closer, I realized that same theme was showing up in other areas of my life.

Now, I look at this question as a great measure of where I want to spend my time and energy and consider the following framework when faced with new opportunities or burdensome responsibilities.

Let's play with this...

Grab a piece of paper, favorite writing implement, beverage of choice, and find a comfy seat (preferably in nature). Ready? Consider a task, responsibility or role in your life where you are lacking in satisfaction or motivation. Write it down. Now- ask yourself the following and track your answers:

Am I all in? why or why not?
Do I have to be? why or why not?
Where do I want to be all in? What is non-negotiable?

From this simple journal exercise, it can become more obvious where you want to be all in and where you are not, or where you are committed and you don't want to be or even need to be.

For me, I'm all in with showing up for my personal well being and growth, family, clients, the farm and growing my business.

Every other opportunity or obligation might get some attention, but not at the expense of my priorities. There is such freedom and joy in granting myself that permission. AND with just that reframing of thought....that I AM ALL IN on those things... my energy is more focused and efficient and the day to day feels more spacious and doable.

So, on this Friday as you enter the weekend "shift change", my hope for you is that your actions are in alignment with your priorities and that you can feel what it feels like to be all in.

Happy Friday!
